The grapes were hand-harvested and transported directly to the winery for whole-bunch pressing to tank. The juice was chilled, lightly settled and racked to small French oak barrels, 10% new, for spontaneous fermentation, followed by maturation on yeast lees for 10 months before finishing and bottling in early 2020.
Appearance: Bright pale lemon-straw in colour.
Nose: The classic Marsanne honeysuckle aroma is supported by hints of preserved lemon, baked apple and chalky, mineral undertones.
Palate: Fine and medium-bodied, with good intensity of apple and pear flavours. Fresh acidity balances the fruit richness and provides a long, clean finish.Summary: The flavour complexity and harmony of the 2019 Marsanne is further demonstration of the suitability of the Tallarook vineyard site for this classic variety.
